At a time when artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping educational practices, its integration into translator training raises complex challenges, particularly within the Algerian university context. This study explores the didactic potential of AI tools-such as ChatGPT and DeepL-within Algerian universities between 2022 and 2025, as well as the structural, ethical, and pedagogical obstacles that hinder their effective appropriation. Its aim is to better understand actual uses, stakeholders’ perceptions, and the conditions required for integrating these technologies in an evolving institutional environment. The primary objective is to analyze the impact of AI on translator training by identifying current practices, pedagogical representations, and professional implications. The chosen approach is both analytical and exploratory, grounded in a critical review of national and international literature, without the direct collection of empirical data. The findings highlight an uneven adoption of AI tools across institutions, characterized by disparities in infrastructure, teacher training, and student acceptance. While AI fosters the development of certain linguistic competences, it also raises concerns related to dependence, creativity, and assessment. The study proposes a hybrid didactic framework based on human–machine collaboration and calls for an ethical and critical reconfiguration of curricula..
