Cahiers de Traduction (ISSN 1111-4606) is a peer-reviewed international journal dedicated to the scholarly exploration of translation, having been established in 1993 by the Translation Institute at Algiers 2 University. The journal, with a committed Editorial Board and Scientific Committee comprising globally recognized translators, researchers, and linguists, is published annually in June. Cahiers De Traduction is a digital, cost-free, and fully open-access journal.

The principal objective of Cahiers de Traduction is to cultivate and elevate scientific research within the domain of translation and languages. الملخص: ملخص: الترجمة الأدبية نوع من أنواع الترجمات التي تستقطب اهتمام الدارسين و الباحثين نظرا لطبيعة إشكالاتها وخصوصيات نشاطها إذ تختلف عن ترجمة النصوص البراغماتية (العلمية و التقنية) بحكم أنها لا تقوم على نقل لغة النص الأدبي بمفرداتها و تراكيبها فحسب بل تهتم بنقل المعاني الضمنية و الخلفية الثقافية التي تزخر بها النصوص الإبداعية مع ما تحمله من شحنات عاطفية و أوضاع اجتماعية و تطلعات إنسانية. نسعى من خلال هذه الورقة البحثية إلى النظر في كيفية قراءة المترجم للمؤشرات الثقافية التي تحملها الرواية الجزائرية المكتوبة باللغة الفرنسية خلال الحقبة الاستعمارية و بالتالي الأساليب الترجمية التي ينتهجها لنقلها إلى اللغة العربية، مع التركيز على العوامل المساعدة على ترجمة ذلك النمط من النصوص الأدبية بأبعادها اللغوية و الثقافية إلى جانب الكشف عن العراقيل التي تحول دون استيعاب السياقات الثقافية المرتبطة بمجتمع ما و بيئة جغرافية معينة. Abstract: Literary translation is a type of translation that attracts academics and researchers because of the nature of its problems and the specificities of its activity, as it differs from the translation of pragmatic texts (scientific and technical). Indeed, it is not only based on the translation of the language of the literary text, but is also concerned with the transfer of implicit meanings and the cultural background of creative texts. In this article, we attempt to examine how the translator can read the cultural indicators conveyed by the Algerian novel written in French during the colonial era, and thus find translation methods for transmitting them into Arabic, focusing on the factors that help in translating this type of literary text in its linguistic and cultural dimensions, as well as detecting the obstacles to considering the cultural contexts associated with a society and its particular geographical environment.

ترجمة الأسماء المواقعية بين التوطين والتغريب

الملخص: تهدف الدراسة إلى تسليط الضوء على الأسماء المواقعية باعتبارها عناصر ثقافية تحمل في طياتها بعدا ثقافيا وتاريخيا .إن ترجمة أسماء الأماكن لا تخلو من الصعوبات التي قد تعرقل عمل المترجم في المكافئ الأنسب في اللغة المنقول إليها، وعلى القارئ في التلقي والفهم والاستيعاب. كما تهدف إلى تسليط الضوء على أنسب تقنية في ترجمتها.وقد أظهرت النتائج أن نقل الأسماء المواقعية في أغلبها إيجاد الى العربية اللغة العربية تقع في محور دوران التكييف والنقحرة في إطار استراتيجيتي التوطين و التغريب .

Different Perspectives of Scholars on Socio-Cultural Dimension in Translation

Résumé: This research paper aims at examining the different contributions of scholars such as Peter Newmark, Pierre Bourdieu, Justa Holz-Mänttäri, Eugene Nida, Itamar Even-Zohar and Gideon Toury and regarding the socio-cultural dimension in translation. It seeks to explore their perspectives on how language, culture, and society intersect within the translation process and influence the transfer of meaning across languages. By delving into their theories and insights, this paper intends to shed light on the importance of considering socio-cultural factors in translation practice and the implications for achieving accurate and culturally relevant translations. Through a comprehensive analysis of their works, this research endeavors to provide a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in navigating socio-cultural differences during translation and its significance in facilitating cross-cultural communication.

تكييف النصوص الموجهة للترجمة مع الأعراف الثقافية والنصية

الملخص: ملخص يتناول هذا المقال تطبيق مقاربة كريستيان نورد في تحليل النصوص، مؤكدًا على أهميته للمترجمين. يوفر نموذج نورد إطارًا موثوقًا للمترجمين يمكنهم من خلاله اتخاذ قرارات الترجمة وتبرير اختياراتهم (Nord, 1997). يسلط المقال الضوء على الطبيعة المتعددة الأوجه للنصوص، التي تتضمن عناصر نصية وعناصر غير نصية، إلى جانب التفاعل الديناميكي بين الابعاد اللغوية والثقافية (Nord, 2005). علاوة على ذلك، يستكشف تأثير السياق والعوامل الشخصية على استقبال النص، ما يؤكد العلاقة المعقدة بين توقعات الجمهور المتلقي للنص والسياق الظرفي (Nord, 2005). في الختام، يؤكد المقال على ضرورة قيام المترجمين بتكييف النصوص مع الأعراف الثقافية والنصية للجمهور المستهدف، مما يضمن التواصل الفعال عبر الحدود اللغوية والثقافية. Abstarct This article examines how Christiane Nord's approach to text analysis is applied, underscoring its significance for translators. Nord's model furnishes translators with a dependable framework enabling them to make translation decisions and substantiate their choices (Nord, 1997). The article sheds light on the multi-faceted nature of texts, encompassing both extra-textual and intra-textual elements, alongside the dynamic interplay between linguistic and cultural dimensions (Nord, 2005). Furthermore, it delves into the impact of context and personal factors on text reception, underscoring the intricate correlation between the audience's expectations and the contextual backdrop (Nord, 2005). The article concludes by emphasizing the necessity for translators to tailor texts to the cultural and textual conventions of the target audience, thus ensuring effective cross-linguistic and cross-cultural communication.

عنوان رواية ذاكرة الجسد بين ذيوع صيته في لغة المصدر وضياع صوته في لغة المتلقي

الملخص: يطرح هذا المقال كيفية تعامل المترجم مع عنوان الرواية التي ينقلها بما يتوافق وثقافة المتلقي مع الحفاظ على خصوصية ثقافة المصدر. وخصوصية العنوان تشكل وحدها عتبة مهمة للولوج إلى النص، فهو الباب الذي يقودنا إلى نص بعينه خاصة إذا نجح ذلك العنوان نجاحا ملفتا وارتبط ذكره بالكاتب في اللغة المصدر. نحاول عبر بحثنا هذا أن نشرح كيف يمكن للمترجم أن يتعامل مع العنوان عند نقله إلى متلق مختلف، نبحث في المواضع التي يشكل فيها العنوان إشكالية عند نقله لمتلقي ذو ثقافة مختلفة مما يطرح إمكانية تغييره، والحالات التي يصبح فيها تغيير العنوان يطرح في حد ذاته إشكالية في حال غير دون داع لذلك. ومثالنا عن هذا رواية «ذاكرة الجسد» للكاتبة الجزائرية» أحلام مستغانمي» التي ترجم عنوانها إلى اللغة الإنجليزية في المرة الأولى ب: «ذاكرة الجسد«. «Memory in the Flesh» لكنه ترجم في المرة الثانية ب: «جسور قسنطينة«. «The Bridges of Constantine» عنوان، أحلام مستغانمي، ذاكرة الجسد، المتلقي، المصدر، جسور قسنطينة. Abstract: The paper demonstrates how the translator can deal with the title of the novel he transmits in accordance with the culture of the recipient, while preserving the specificity of the source culture. The specificity of the title alone constitutes an important threshold for accessing the text, as it represents the gateway leading us to a specific text, especially if that title succeeds remarkably and its mention is associated with the author in the source language. In this paper , we explain how the translator can deal with the title when transmitting it to a different recipient. We discuss the cases where the title is problematic when transferred to a recipient of a different culture, which raises the possibility of changing it, and the cases in which changing the title becomes problematic in itself if it is changed unnecessarily. Our example of this the novel"Memory in the Flesh" by the Algerian novelist Ahlam Mosteghanemi, which was translated into English the first time as “Memory in the Flesh ” and the second time as “The Bridges of Constantine”.
