Abstract

Digital transformation affects Algerian SMEs' sales, cash collection, customer management, and operations. Recently released Algerian statistics and academic papers are used to assess that effect. It follows the Algerian definition of SMEs as 1–250-person enterprises. The data shows a market shift. Algeria received 5.58 million TPE payments worth DZD 44.56 billion, 19.59 million internet payments worth DZD 51.95 billion, and 58.47 million mobile payments worth DZD 43.59 billion in 2024. In 2025, ARPCE reported 54.87 million active mobile users in the second quarter, with 88.80% on 4G, and Algerie Telecom had 2.5 million fibre subscribers by September. The competitive effect is uneven. Only 19,275 of 77,512 deployed terminals were active in July 2025, according to GIE Monetique. SME competitiveness improves with payment digitalization, process digitization, staff training, and business data utilization.
