The strategic role of agricultural insurance in Algeria is to mitigate agricultural risks and secure the nation's food supply. Climate change, water scarcity, and global market shifts threaten Algeria's agricultural sector, a major economic sector. These variables threaten national food security. This article investigates crop insurance procedures and their efficacy in Algeria, identifies major impediments to widespread adoption, and offers data-driven recommendations for improvement. Agriculture insurance provides financial security and may encourage profitable investment, but its benefits often underutilized. Farmers' lack of understanding and trust in the system, high prices, and a lack of product alternatives to alleviate drought risks are the main challenges. Recent statistical evidence supports the analysis's emphasis on coordinated policy. This includes increasing government subsidies, expediting the development of innovative products like index-based insurance, improving agricultural education, and strengthening public-private collaborations. Algeria needs these measures to use agricultural insurance effectively to build a strong and food-secure agricultural future.
