Abstract
Social networks have fundamentally transformed communication and public opinion formation, introducing new dynamics of social influence. These platforms amplify group dynamics, leverage influential opinion leaders, and utilize algorithms that curate user information exposure. By creating echo chambers and escalating polarization, social networks deepen ideological divides and impact political identity formation. The rapid spread of fake news and radicalization processes underscore the negative impacts of these platforms, highlighting the need for understanding and regulation to ensure a positive influence on public discourse.
