Abstract: Amidst the ongoing jurisprudential debate regarding the contradiction between unilateral international intervention and the established principle of absolute state sovereignty, a body of sound legal doctrine adopts a contrasting view, asserting the legitimacy of this unilateral humanitarian intervention, based on profound objective justifications. This foundation stems from the fact that contemporary international law has transcended the mere scope of regulating inter-state relations to embrace the protection of human dignity as an ultimate goal, viewing the two principles with complementarily rather than antagonism. While the Charter prohibits interference in internal affairs, it mandates active international cooperation for the advancement of human rights. Nevertheless, the actual practice of humanitarian intervention remains fraught with the risks of infringing upon the safety of states and communities, which necessitates strict adherence to the framework and controls of the principle of legality to preserve its noble aims.
