Multimedia Pedagogy In Language Teaching: Potential And Challenges

Authors : Addar Zohra .

Abstract

This study explores the pedagogical potential and implementation challenges of multimedia in language education amid ongoing digital transformation. It begins with a conceptual and typological analysis, highlighting multimedia’s role in enhancing cognitive processing, communicative competence, and both autonomous and collaborative learning. Key obstacles include limited teacher digital literacy, curriculum integration issues, technical constraints, and institutional resistance. A multilingual literature review reveals gaps, especially the lack of empirical research in Arab contexts and insufficient evaluative frameworks. The study proposes an integrative framework that aligns technological and pedagogical dimensions to foster inclusive, interactive, and effective multimedia-based language instruction.
