الملخص
يلعب علم النفس بمختلف فروعه دورا في تحديد ما إذا كان الفرد سويا أو مضطربا، فبالرجوع إلى الشخصية نجد أن دورها ينبثق من نظرياتها التي وضعت مجموعة من المؤشرات التي تصنف الأفراد إلى أنماط حسب سماتهم بحيث يساهم ذلك في التعرف على الإنسان وفهمه والتنبؤ بسلوكه والتحكم فيه، إضافة إلى تطوير مهاراته التي من شأنها أن تحدد نجاحه في الحياة وكذا توجهه نحو خدمة المنظومة الاجتماعية، كما تساهم النظريات في فهم شخصية الفرد من أجل الحفاظ عليه بعيدا عن الاضطرابات من خلال خلق الجو المناسب والعمل على وقايته من مختلف الاضطرابات النفسية، حيث هدف مقالنا إلى تحديد ماهية الشخصية وكيف نظر إليها علماء النفس عبر التاريخ. Psychology in its various branches plays a role in determining whether an individual is healthy or disturbed, also we find that personality and its role stems from its theories that have developed a set of indicators that divide individuals into styles according to their characteristics. So this contributes to identifying, understanding, predicting and controlling human behaviour, The theories also contribute to the understanding of the individual's personality in order to keep him away from disorders by creating the appropriate atmosphere and working to protect him from various psychological disorders, as our article aimed to determine the meaning of personality and how psychologists have viewed it through history
