This paper aims to make a small beginning in examining the role of the UN in the management and resolution of conflicts on a regional basis. It selects, as a framework, the United Nations' involvement in the Middle Eastern conflict and tests this case against relevant theoretical principles of international relations to see if the UN has been able to make a substantive revolution at this level. Subsequent chapters will delve into specific cases within the region, providing a comprehensive analysis of the United Nations' effectiveness in dealing with the intricate challenges posed by Iran, Lebanon, and the Palestine question. Each case highlights distinct aspects of the region's dynamics and the UN's role, contributing to a deeper understanding of the complexities at play.
