الملخص
تعد مخطوطة "طبائع الحيوان " لشرف الزمان طاهر المروزي واحدة من أهم المخطوطات الإسلامية المؤلفة في مجال البيئة والحيوان، والتي تمثل في أسلوبها وعرضها سبقا علميا مر عليه أكثر من ثمانية قرون، جمع فيها المؤلف بين عالم الحيوان وعالم الإنسان ضمن إطار جغرافي أثنولوجي عن عدد من الشعوب والأعراق والتي لم تحظ لحد الآن سوى بدراسة جزئية قام بها المستشرق الروسي فلاديمير مينوروسكي الذي ترجم بعض فصولها إلى الإنجليزية. تتلخص إشكالية هذه الدراسة حول مدى نسبة هذا المخطوط لصاحبه وأصالة نسخه وأماكن وجوده ، وما هي طبيعة الجهود المبذولة للتعريف به، خاصة فيما يتعلق بجهود المستشرق الروسي فلاديمير مينوروسكي من خلال نشرته التي مر عليها أكثر من ثمانين عاما. حيث يسعى هذا المقال إلى معرفة الطبيعة العلمية لهذا المخطوط ومنهجية تحقيقة من قبل المحقق مينوروسكي، إلى جانب مقارنة المخطوطات المعتمدة في عمله وأسباب اهتمامه بهذا المخطوط العلمي السابق لعصره والذي وضع فيه المروزي خلاصة تجاربه ومعارفه حول الحيوان والإنسان معا. كلمات مفتاحية: طبائع الحيوان، المروزي، فلاديمير مينوروسكي، المخطوط، الحيوان. Abstract: The manuscript Ṭabā’iʿ al-Ḥayawān by Sharaf al-Zamān Ṭāhir al-Marwazī (6th/12th century) is a significant early contribution to Islamic scientific literature. It explores the relationship between humans and animals within an environmental and ethnological framework, demonstrating a remarkably advanced perspective for its time. Despite its scientific and anthropological value, the manuscript has received little scholarly attention, aside from the partial work of Russian orientalist Vladimir Minorsky, who translated and commented on selected sections over eighty years ago. This study investigates the attribution of the manuscript to its purported author, evaluates the authenticity and distribution of existing copies, and analyzes the limited scholarly engagement with the text—focusing particularly on Minorsky’s editorial and translational approach. It also compares the manuscript versions he consulted and examines the intellectual and cultural motivations behind his interest in this work. Al-Marwazī’s synthesis of natural and human knowledge reflects an early scientific vision that anticipates later developments in both anthropology and environmental thought.
