Abstract

This research paper aims to try to highlight the impact of trade openness on economic growth in Algeria during the period 1980-2023 through the use of the nonlinear distributed slowdown autoregression methodology (NARDL), where the dependent variable of economic growth was expressed in per capita GDP, while the independent variables were represented in the rate of trade openness, exports as a percentage of GDP, imports as a percentage of GDP, exchange rate and foreign direct The study has reached a number of results, most notably that trade openness contributes to improving growth rates in addition to the similarity of positive and negative shocks to the index of trade openness to economic growth in the long and short term, so this study supports the hypothesis that trade openness contributes to achieving economic growth
