Abstract

ABSTRUCT: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder marked by enduring challenges in social communication and interaction, typically accompanied by restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. Among the various therapeutic interventions, speech and language therapy plays a central role in addressing the diverse communication challenges associated with ASD. This article explodes the principal orthophonic care methods used in the management of individuals with ASD, including language simulation, pragmatic language training, articulation therapy, and AAC. Furthermore, it examines the most influential therapeutic schools guiding speech-language interventions, such as ABA, TEACCH, DIR/Floortime, and ESDM. By integrating theoretical perspectives and evidence-based practices, the article highlights the need for individualized, multidisciplinary approaches tailored to the specific needs of each individual. The present study examines also contemporary insights into the etiology of ASD and underscores the pivotal role of early intervention in facilitating communicative development and promoting an improved quality of life.
