This study explores the teacher’s role in understanding the phenomenon of linguistic duality among Kurdish students in Turkey and examines how this awareness influences the success of teaching Arabic as a second or third language in a linguistically and culturally diverse environment. The research is based on the premise that a teacher’s awareness of the student’s linguistic and social background constitutes a decisive factor in the quality of the educational process. A teacher who understands the effects of linguistic duality on the learner is better able to adopt effective teaching strategies that take into account grammatical, lexical, and phonological interferences. Such awareness contributes to enhancing student motivation and overcoming the challenges associated with negative transfer from the learner’s previous languages (Kurdish and Turkish) to Arabic. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical methodology, drawing upon previous field research and classroom practices, while documenting common linguistic errors resulting from language duality. The findings reveal that a lack of linguistic awareness among teachers perpetuates problems of language interference and lowers achievement levels, whereas professional and pedagogical awareness enables teachers to transform multilingualism into a supportive educational opportunity. The study recommends developing training programs for teachers working in multilingual contexts and designing curricula that consider the linguistic characteristics of Kurdish learners, integrating the mother tongue into the educational process in a way that promotes understanding, communication, and improved Arabic learning outcomes.
