Machine Translation And Cat Tools In Legal Translation: A Descriptive Linguistic Case Study On The Lisbon Treaty

Abstract

Translation resources have evolved from paper dictionaries to AI-powered systems. This study compares Google Translate (MT) and SDL Trados 2021 (CAT) in translating the Lisbon Treaty from English to Arabic, evaluating lexical, syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic accuracy. It examines the impact of NMT and CAT on the accuracy of legal translation. The findings provide insights into the strengths and limitations of both tools in legal translation.
