Abstract: This paper examines the translation of Young Adult Literature (YAL) through Juliane House’s functional-pragmatic model and Christiane Nord’s loyalty-based functionalism, while engaging with Lawrence Venuti’s ethical stance and Mona Baker’s socio-narrative theory. It argues that YAL translation goes beyond linguistic transfer to become a complex act of negotiation involving voice, identity, and ideology, shaped by market pressures, censorship, and cultural boundaries. The findings suggest that effective translation requires balancing cultural authenticity with accessibility, and fidelity to the source with loyalty to the target readership. The study concludes that integrating functional, ethical, and narrative frameworks provides a comprehensive lens to understand the translator’s role as a cultural mediator, ethical agent, and narrative re-shaper in globalized literary contexts
