Abstract

Smart cities leverage digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance urban sustainability and quality of life. This study conducts a comparative analysis of nine leading global smart cities, highlighting diverse approaches to digital transformation, including e-government platforms, smart mobility systems, and AI-driven urban services. Findings indicate that successful smart city development depends on the integration of technology with governance, citizen engagement, and data privacy measures. Common challenges include infrastructure disparities, regulatory constraints, and digital inclusion gaps. The study recommends a holistic approach combining digital infrastructure, participatory governance, and ethical AI practices to foster equitable and sustainable urban environments. These insights provide policymakers and urban planners with guidance to enhance efficiency, innovation, and resilience in cities worldwide.
