Authors : Dahami Yahya .

Abstract

This paper explores Al-Janadriyah Festival, Saudi Arabia’s largest cultural heritage event, and its multifaceted impact on Saudi literature, heritage, and national identity, with a particular focus on the festival’s signature Al-Janadriyah Operetta. Since its inception in 1985, the festival has served as a unique platform for celebrating and preserving Saudi cultural heritage through diverse forms of artistic expression, including poetry, music, dance, and traditional crafts. Central to the festival's program, Al-Janadriyah Operetta is a theatrical performance that combines classical and nabati poetry, traditional music, and folk dances in a symbolic narrative of the kingdom’s history and values. The operetta not only entertains but also educates audiences by dramatizing key moments in Saudi history—such as the unification of the kingdom—and reinforcing themes of patriotism, unity, and national pride. The study applies the descriptive-analytical-critical method as its approach.
