Explaining Mathematics Difficulties From A Cognitive Perspective (mathematical Thinking And Problem Solving)

Abstract
The current study aimed to explain mathematics difficulties from a cognitive perspective mathematical thinking and problem solving considering problem-solving strategies as one of the modern strategies whose effects should be studied. Mathematical thinking is considered one of the crucial components of the educational system, and developing it requires focusing on knowledge as one of its core elements. According to the theory of cognitive development, the stage of mathematical thinking is regarded as a transitional stage. A key characteristic of this stage is the use of concrete, physical objects to engage in mathematical thinking and solve mathematical problems. Some researchers believe that children who face difficulties in learning mathematics are unable to undertake diverse actions or reach problem-solving strategies. Therefore, they have been trained in strategies based on mathematical thinking patterns to help them systematically use problem-solving approaches.
