Authors : Bekhti Karima .

Abstract

This study aims to explore the nature of selective attention in children with mild Down syndrome, considering it one of the most critical cognitive processes that plays a key role in adapting to the environment. The research is based on a field study involving a sample of four children diagnosed with Down syndrome, aged between 8 and 14 years. Tools and techniques were used to assess the children's ability to focus their attention on specific stimuli while ignoring distractions, in ways adapted to their mental and cognitive levels. The results revealed disturbances and difficulties in selective attention, highlighting the need for specialized interventions and the development of this function in children within this group.
