This study discusses the relationship between institutions and the adoption of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Algeria SMEs. This study introduces several key factors that condition the interplay between institutions and CSR. Based on the evidence from the case study METAGAV, we understand that the role that institutions play in encouraging CSR practices can be both formal and informal, and reflects cultural values. This collaborative role required at the intersection of institutional constraints, stakeholders, and local firms to work towards the development of a unique environment.
