Authors : Keita Diby .

Abstract

Abstract: Literature plays a central role in the construction of both individual and collective identity by offering a representation of a people's cultural, social, and historical realities. The book Le Monde Africain Doit Se Réveiller by Coulibaly Aboubacar Sidiki aligns with this dynamic by highlighting the issues related to the awakening of African consciousness in the face of contemporary challenges. This study analyzes how this work contributes to identity construction through its discourse on African history, culture, and values. The overall objective of this study is to demonstrate that literature is a powerful vehicle for identity awareness and a means of mobilization for social change. Drawing on a theoretical approach inspired by postcolonial studies and sociocriticism, this research examines the key themes developed in the book and their impact on shaping a strong African identity. Methodologically, the study is based on a qualitative analysis of the work, combining thematic reading and a semiotic approach to the text. Among the main findings, it appears that Le Monde Africain Doit Se Réveiller promotes a revalorization of African history and calls for collective awareness to break free from neocolonialism. It is recommended to encourage the dissemination and study of socially engaged literary works to strengthen the historical and identity awareness of future generations.
