The transition from university studies to professional employment represents a critical stage in the lives of young adults. For translation students in particular, this period is characterized by a high degree of uncertainty, emotional vulnerability and anxiety about future career prospects. Although the global language services market has grown steadily over the past two decades and continues to expand due to globalization and digital communication, translation students frequently experience doubt regarding their ability to secure stable employment after graduation. Furthermore, the academic environment itself can contribute to psychological strain, as students navigate demanding coursework, linguistic self-doubt and pressure to excel in both theoretical and practical components of their training. Translation students, despite entering a growing global language services market, frequently experience anxiety regarding employability, financial stability and their ability to meet evolving professional expectations. This paper explores the primary sources of psychological stress affecting translation students—academic pressures, freelance-dominated work structures, technological advancements such as machine translation, economic insecurity and social comparison. The study analyzes the emotional and cognitive consequences of these stressors, including anxiety, burnout, reduced motivation and negative self-perception. It further proposes institutional and pedagogical strategies for supporting translation students, including the integration of technology training, career guidance services, practical internships, mental-health resources and diversified career-orientation programs. Within this framework, it attempts to design a translation theory course that would integrate theories from the field of psychology aiming to help students manage their stress. The findings of the study highlight the need for universities to adopt proactive, holistic approaches that enhance student well-being, strengthen professional readiness and promote resilience in an increasingly demanding and technology-driven translation industry.
