This study investigates the relationship between selective attention and the acquisition of writing skills in children with mild Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), using a descriptive-analytical approach within a natural educational setting in a specialized institution. The study relied on the Stroop Test to assess selective attention and cognitive interference inhibition, in addition to evaluating writing skills through a standardized instrument designed to identify indicators of writing difficulties and analyze the quality of written production. The findings revealed variability in accuracy, response time, and number of errors across interference tasks, along with clear difficulties in cognitive inhibition and attentional shifting. These indicators were also associated with unstable levels of writing performance, reflected in poor page organization, inconsistent handwriting, irregular spacing, letter distortion, and slow task completion. These results are interpreted in light of processing-capacity models and the allocation of cognitive resources, highlighting the regulatory role of selective attention in structuring and coordinating writing performance. The study recommends the adoption of integrated interventions combining speech therapy and pedagogical practice to enhance selective attention as a foundational cognitive prerequisite for improving writing quality and supporting the learning trajectory of the children concerned.
