The Algerian economy relies heavily on hydrocarbons, representing over 93% of exports. Its growth, driven by rising oil prices since the 2000s, is often deemed artificial. This dependence exposes Algeria to risks, as seen with the oil shocks of 1973, 1979, the 1986 price collapse, and the 2014 price decline, further intensified by the 2020 COVID-19 crisis. These events disrupted economic stability, emphasizing the need for analysis. This study examines the impact of oil shocks on Algeria's growth, revealing long-term links between growth and key indicators, underscoring oil price fluctuations' significant role.
