Abstract
The characteristic of legibility of space is diligently tangled with Westphal’s concept if Imagology. This research is theoretically framed by Baudrillard’s views the simulacrum in Atwood’s Dystopian fiction.The Gileadean space is characterized by theocracy, and patriarchy, in which females are subdued and regarded inferiors. The analysis of this simulacrum, requires a metonymic connection between the Gileadean space in one hand,and the Lefebvrian and Foucauldian views on space production and power on the other, in order to shed lights on the male dominant ideology involved in the production of the space. تتشابك سمة وضوح المكان بشكل وثيق مع مفهوم ويستفال لعلم الصور. يُؤطّر هذا البحث نظريًا من خلال آراء بودريار حول المحاكاة في أدب آتوود الديستوبي. يتسم الفضاء الجليدي بالثيوقراطية والأبوية، حيث تُقهر النساء ويُنظر إليهن كأقل شأنًا. يتطلب تحليل هذا المحاكاة ربطًا مجازيًا بين الفضاء الجليدي من جهة، ووجهات نظر ليفبفري وفوكو حول إنتاج المكان والسلطة من جهة أخرى، وذلك لتسليط الضوء على أيديولوجية الهيمنة الذكورية المتورطة في إنتاجه.
