Bridging The Gap: The Interplay Between Specialized And General Language

Authors : Chadli Amar .

Abstract

The use of specialized languages is currently widespread across various domains—professional, medical, scientific, and advertising. Their importance thus transcends being a mere tool for carrying out specialized tasks in different fields. They extend to scientific expression in both fundamental and applied disciplines, to articulating modern technologies, and to fulfilling the communicative requirements of the respective professions. Specialized languages represent a limited and context-bound linguistic reality adhered to by their users, who already share a common general language. Moreover, these languages possess distinctive linguistic features in terms of morphological structures, vocabulary, syntax, symbolic systems, and levels of usage.
