الملخص

يتناول هذا المقال تغطية جريدة ' Stars and Stripes ' الأمريكية لمجازر 8 ماي 1945 في الجزائر، من خلال تحليل تقرير مراسلها العسكري الرقيب جاك فوازي ' Jack Foisie '، بوصفه مصدرا إعلاميا معاصرا للأحداث، كما عرّف المقال بشخصية المراسل و سياق كتابة التقرير، مشيرا إلى ظروف إرساله من الدار البيضاء و تأخر نشره بسبب الرقابة و صعوبة الوصول إلى مناطق الأحداث، و هو ما عكس طبيعة تداول الخبر في بيئة عسكرية خاضعة لاعتبارات سياسية و أمنية، و ركز المقال على مضمون التقرير، حيث نقل معطيات حول اندلاع المظاهرات في شرق الجزائر و اتساع نطاقها، و حجم القمع الفرنسي الذي شمل استعمال القوة العسكرية و القصف الجوي و تدمير القرى، إضافة الإشارة إلى عدد الضحايا من الجزائريين و الأوروبيين، كما برز التقرير حالة التوتر العام التي شهدتها منطقة شمال إفريقيا في تلك الفترة، و ربط الأحداث بعوامل سياسية و اقتصادية و أمنية، و أخيرا نقده من خلال مصادر معاصرة له. This article examines how the American newspaper Stars and Stripes reported on the May 8, 1945 massacres in Algeria, focusing on a dispatch written by its military correspondent, Sergeant Jack Foisie, as a contemporary media account of the events. It also introduces the profile of the reporter and the context in which the report was produced, highlighting that it was sent from Casablanca and published with delay due to censorship and the difficulty of accessing the affected areas factors that reflect how information circulated within a military environment shaped by political and security constraints. The study then analyzes the content of the report, which provides details on the outbreak of demonstrations in eastern Algeria, their rapid spread, and the scale of the French repression, including the use of military force, aerial bombardment, and the destruction of villages. It also mentions the reported number of Algerian and European casualties. More broadly, the report conveys a climate of tension across North Africa at the time, linking these developments to intertwined political, economic, and security factors.
