The Algerian Historical Journal (A.H.J) is an international refereed scientific journal, open as access free for readers. It is published by the Laboratory of Studies and Research on the Algerian Revolution, affiliated to Mohamed Boudiaf University in M'sila (Algeria), and is a semi-annual journal (June, December). IThe journal publishes original scientific research paper and Electronic, written in one of the languages: Arabic, English and French. (A.H.J) The magazine is open to researchers from inside and outside the country to publish their scientific production, which is characterized by originality and novelty. Its field of competence is general history in its various fields and disciplines (ancient, medium, modern and contemporary). The magazine aim at publishing specialized historical research and studies so as to keep pace with the efforts of historical research in both Algerian and international universities, and also provides an academic platform for researchers to disseminate historical knowledge with the aim of contributing to innovative work in this field with accurate and objective research that adheres to the methodology of scientific research and its internationally recognized steps aiming at developing scientific academic research in Algeria. (A.H.J) provide immediate open access to its content on the principle that making the research freely avaible to the public supporting a greater global exchange of knowledge. The article must contain the title and abstract in the language of the article and in English is mandatory.

Important:

Everyone is requested to review all documents related to publication in the journal, so the author must download the journal template form, in which there is a publication instruction file (author's guide). Through it, the approved form in the journal is viewed, when copying and pasting the article, regarding fonts and margins.

The journal ’s editorial board informs all authors that sending the undertaking is immediately after accepting the article for publication, and the article cannot be published without it, and it is downloaded from the platform and must be sent via e-mail to the journal.

ملاحظة:

- تعلن هيئة تحرير المجلة التاريخية الجزائرية عن استقبال الأعمال من 15 سبتمبر إلى غاية 15 أكتوبر 2025.

- التأكد من إدراج جميع أسماء المؤلفين للمقال، عند إدخال الأسماء على مستوى المنصة ASJP.

- وجوب التقيد بضوابط البحث وبشروط النشر، المحددة في دليل وتعليمات المؤلف؛ حيث يتضمن هذا الأخير نموذج قالب المجلة المعتمد بها، وهذا تجنبا للرد السلبي على المقال.

- عند تقديم مقالتك على منصة ASJP، يجب إدخال العنوان باللغة الإنجليزية

- يجب مراعاة الأصالة والحداثة العلمية في المقال.

- التدقيق اللغوي للمقال.

- التهميش بطريقة APA

- أي مقال لا يحترم معايير الكتابة التي وضعتها هيئة تحرير المجلة سيتم رفضه دون عرضه على المحكمين.

بالنسبة لطلبة الدكتوراه المقبلين على المناقشة، يجب إدراج اسم الطالب أولاً، ثم المشرف في المرتبة الثانية، مع التأكيد على كتابة البريد الالكتروني ومخبر الانتماء ومؤسسة الانتماء (في المقال المرسل وفي المنصة). بعد النشر لا يمكن التعديل.

- على الباحث متابعة مسار مقاله، عندما يُطلب منه تعديل عنوان أو مضمون المقال أو الملخص أو الكلمات المفتاحية من طرف المحكمين، أن يقوم بنفس التعديل عبر المنصة ASJP أيضا، وذلك في حدود 10 أيام أو يرفض المقال.

- قائمة المراجع المستخدمة في المقال يجب أن تطابق المراجع المدرجة عبر المنصة.

- لا ينشر المقال إلا بعد إرسال التعهد والإقرار إلى بريد رئيس تحرير المجلة.

French Voices Against Colonial Legal Abuses in Algeria: Émile Larcher(1869–1918) Between Reformist Aspirations and the Perpetuation of Colonial Domination

Résumé: This article explores the views of the French jurist Émile Larcher (1869–1918) on the legal abuses that characterized French colonial rule in nineteenth-century Algeria, focusing on his critique of the exceptional penal system imposed on Muslim subjects. It argues that colonial law functioned less as a framework of justice and more as a mechanism of domination, legitimized by the rhetoric of reform and civilization. Within this context, Larcher emerged as a rare legal voice denouncing the arbitrary powers of the Governor-General, military commanders, and administrative officers, and criticizing institutions such as the War Councils and Disciplinary Commissions for violating the principles of justice. The study concludes that Larcher’s thought reveals the deep contradiction between France’s reformist discourse and its colonial practices. His call for the equal application of justice represented a bold intellectual effort to restore the legitimacy of law in a colonial order built on exception, defending the very legal values that colonialism had distorted in its own name.
