Abstract: the startup sector in Algeria is seeing increased interest, especially with the reforms launched since 2020 to support innovation and entrepreneurship. However, the technological environment and entrepreneurial culture remain weak, limiting the growth of these ventures. Algeria has adopted a new organizational framework that includes a dedicated ministry, a national committee to grant startup status, tax incentives, and a special funding fund. Startups suffer from funding challenges, lack of expertise, and poor coordination between universities and industry. Negative social perception is an additional barrier. However, the Algerian government has provided multiple support mechanisms such as business incubators, business houses, and institutional incubators. These efforts remain a promising step in diversifying the economy and achieving sustainable development away from oil rents.
