Authors : Ladjadj Abdelkrim .

Abstract

This research examines Algeria’s legal framework for detecting drug and psychotropic substance use in schools and workplaces. It assesses how the law balances preventive measures with protecting individual rights, given the social, health, and security impacts of drug use. The study focuses on Law No. 04-18 and related decrees, which establish early detection procedures with safeguards such as consent, confidentiality, and avoidance of automatic sanctions. The framework combines prevention, treatment, and deterrence, providing support and reintegration for those who test positive. The research concludes that its effectiveness depends on proper implementation, coordination among relevant authorities, and ongoing public awareness efforts.
