Nurturing Tomorrow’s Entrepreneurs: The Impact Of University Support Spaces And Mentorship On Student Entrepreneurial Mindsets

Authors : Merzouk Farida .

Abstract

In Algeria, university-based support and mentoring spaces—such as entrepreneurship development centers and business incubators—play a major role in embedding an entrepreneurial culture within higher education. This shift responds to the saturation of public-sector jobs and rising graduate unemployment, positioning universities as key drivers of innovation and initiative. This study assesses the effectiveness of these spaces in fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, strengthening personality traits (self-confidence, perseverance, creativity), and increasing students’ intention to launch businesses. Using a quantitative approach (questionnaire survey of university students), three hypotheses were tested. Results show a statistically significant positive impact across all dimensions. Practical activities, personalized mentoring, and inspirational interactions prove more effective than awareness programs alone. These findings highlight the importance of an entrepreneurial university ecosystem in promoting self-employment, job creation, and economic diversification.
