Interactive Video And Oral Comprehension In French For Specific Purposes: Effects Of Feedback And Interactivity Types

Authors : Bounouara Yamina .

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of interactive video on oral comprehension in economic French (FSP). One hundred intermediate learners were assigned to four groups crossing feedback type and interactivity timing. Conducted via Moodle with H5P modules, the experiment included two identical comprehension tests and a perception questionnaire. Elaborated feedback improves initial performance. While interactivity shows no main effect, it interacts with feedback: delayed interactivity enhances elaborated feedback, and integrated interactivity offsets simple feedback. Perceived cognitive load negatively correlates with initial scores, suggesting that mental effort may hinder immediate comprehension and modulate the effectiveness of instructional design.
