Abstract

Abstract : The objectives of mathematics education include fostering various modes of thinking, particularly mathematical logical reasoning. Developing this type of thinking has become one of the modern global educational trends, driven by contemporary developments that make learning to think a necessity for adaptation. Consequently, the responsibility of teaching mathematics falls on educational institutions, which must deliver appropriate content and curricula tailored to children’s learning strategies in a supportive and purposeful manner. This also applies to children with educable intellectual disabilities, who require specially designed strategies that consider their individual needs, limited cognitive abilities, and difficulty in grasping abstract and complex concepts. Therefore, employing logical-mathematical thinking skills is essential for teaching mathematics to this group, in order to develop fundamental mathematical skills through flexible and practical teaching methods that enhance understanding and comprehension. It is thus necessary to provide all educational opportunities that support the development of thinking in students with educable intellectual disabilities, using all available means—whether by developing mathematics curricula and teaching materials or by adopting modern teaching methods and assessment strategies.
