This study aims to investigate the role of Shari’ah audit in supporting the development of innovative financial products without compromising Shari’ah compliance with a specific focus on the case of Algeria. The research adopts a descriptive–analytical method, relying on the laws and regulations framing Islamic banking in Algeria, and refering to the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) standards. The findings reveal that the current Algerian legislative and regulatory framework, at this stage, did not refer to Shari'ah Audit and the specific manner of its practice, although literature review confirms that Shari'ah Audit is an effective mechanism which contributes to enhancing confidence in Islamic financial engineering by ensuring transparency and reducing operational and Shari'ah risks. Shari’ah audit contributes to strengthening institutional trust, ensuring transparency, and reducing both operational and Shari’ah-related risks. The study recommends issuing specific texts to regulate the Shari'ah Audit profession or adapting the role of the statutory auditor to incorporate Shari'ah auditing duties. It also suggests activating the institutional role of the central Shari'ah authorities in establishing and issuing unified Shari'ah standards.
