Plurilingual Pedagogy At The Crossroads Of Languages: A Catalyst For Mitigating Interlanguage Transfers.

Authors : Miloudi Imene .

Abstract

This study, situated within the action oriented approach to language teaching and learning promoted by the CEFR, investigates the impact of a plurilingual pedagogy on interlanguage transfer in French as a foreign language among novice learners in Algeria. Drawing on a classroom experiment centered on comparison and translation activities, we measured changes in interference errors and interlanguage transfers by means of a pre test and a post test. The results reveal a significant reduction in negative interlanguage transfers, underscoring a marked improvement in learners’ metalinguistic awareness. This research thus valorizes learners’ linguistic repertoires and advocates for the integration of plurilingualism into classroom practice
