This theoretical study investigates the phenomenon of social exclusion, focusing on its diverse impacts on both individuals and the wider community. It aims to shed light on the risks and repercussions associated with this critical issue, while also identifying the defining characteristics of the groups most affected. Drawing on a descriptive research approach, this paper provides a nuanced examination of social exclusion’s underlying dimensions, scrutinizing both its structural antecedents and its sociocultural ramifications. The findings indicate that social exclusion constitutes a globally pervasive reality, extending well beyond the confines of any single society. It manifests through multiple forms and patterns, giving rise to a range of adverse outcomes, including violence, suicide, psychological disorders, and migration. Notably, certain populations—such as persons with disabilities and individuals with carceral records—tend to bear a disproportionate burden of exclusionary processes.
