Tattooing As A Social Symbol: An Investigation Of The Cultural And Communicative Significances Among Youth

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the phenomenon of tattooing on the body and the communicative meanings and connotations it generates. It also sought to explore the forms and types of tattoos and what they express in terms of societal culture and the social and psychological state of individuals. The descriptive method was utilized in this research. The study yielded a set of results, most notably that tattoos carry communicative meanings and connotations that reflect an individual's psychological or social state, or even the lived reality. Furthermore, tattoos embody cultural meanings specific to the society to which the individual belongs. هدفت هذه الدراسة للبحث في ظاهرة الوشم على الجسد وما تخلفه من معاني ودلالات اتصالية، كما تسعى للبحث في أشكال الأوشام وأنواعها وما تعبر عنه من ثقافة المجتمع والحالة الاجتماعية والنفسية للأفراد، تمت الاستعانة بالمنهج الوصفي، خرجت الدراسة بمجموعة من النتائج، أبرزها أن للأوشام معاني ودلالات تواصلية تعبر عن حالة الفرد النفسية أو الاجتماعية أو حتى عن الواقع المعاش، إضافة إلى ذلك فالأوشام تحمل في طياتها معاني ثقافية خاصة بالمجتمع الذي ينتمي إليه الفرد.
