Abstract: This article explores the intersection between psycholinguistics and literary discourse analysis through a selected passage from Mohammed Dib’s novel The Loom. It assumes that literary discourse reflects psychological tensions shaped in linguistic structures. The study uses psycholinguistic tools to analyze lexical choices, intonation, pronoun usage, and emotional functions of language. Its added value lies in linking linguistic analysis to the psychological depth of fictional characters. The character “Aïni” embodies intense emotional conflict, revealing patterns of rejection, loss, and existential fragmentation. The dense language and somber tone of the novel offer fertile ground for such analysis. Findings show that narrative discourse here exceeds storytelling to become a cry for recognition. Thus, psycholinguistic analysis illuminates hidden aspects of character construction and demonstrates the potential of interdisciplinary literary criticism
