This research paper aims to explore the argumentative mechanisms in Umayyad political discourse, which is considered fundamental in both classical and modern studies due to its connection to intention and objectives, as well as the richness of its narrative output. Political discourse centers on persuasive argumentative mechanisms that enable the achievement of its aims through the power of language, primarily reflected in the language of the discourse. Our interest in Umayyad political discourse is an attempt to highlight the argumentative mechanisms in the speech of Abu Hamza al-Shari, as we believe this allows us to examine the argumentative relationships connecting the speaker to the audience. Furthermore, the speech, as a rhetorical communicative message, serves as a fertile ground for these argumentative mechanisms, facilitating a better understanding of the importance of argumentation in ancient Arabic political discourse and as a methodology for studying political speeches in the Umayyad era.
