The Reading Habits Of Algerian University Students: A Case Study Of A Ran-dom Sample From The Department Of Arabic Language And Literature.

Abstract
Reading is a crucial indicator of the maturity of human societies and re-flects the overall well-being of any society or educational institution. However, the rapid advancements in media and communication technologies have led to a gradual decline in reading. This study aims to assess the reading habits of Algerian university stu-dents. To accomplish this, a questionnaire was administered to a random sample of 50 students from the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at Bou-merdes University. The results indicate a significant aversion to reading and studying, which poses considerable risks to our universities and students amid ongoing transformations and global challenges. Additionally, this research paper presents conclusions based on a series of suggestions and recommendations aimed at fostering a culture of reading both at the university level and within the broader community.
