Abstract

Abstract: The term "special needs" has recently emerged as a substitute for "disability," referring to individuals who exhibit differences in cognitive, physical, sensory, behavioral, linguistic, or educational abilities that distinguish them from the general population. This distinction implies that they require specialized support to help them adapt. Among the most critical forms of assistance are those provided to children, aiming to integrate them into mainstream educational institutions to ensure their academic and social adaptation. Our research paper was developed following a comprehensive review of previous local studies, which are relatively recent due to the novelty of integrating children from this group—particularly those with autism—into mainstream schools in Algeria. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, we examine the findings of these studies and present key recommendations and proposals as a synthesis of their main insights. These recommendations aim to provide solutions and offer a forward-looking perspective on the inclusion of this group in Algerian schools.
