The shifting geopolitical landscape and escalating threats have profound implications for the security of countries such as Algeria, particularly in cyberspace. The sharp rise in cyberattacks originating in hostile states accentuates the urgent need for carefully targeted strategic measures to detect and prevent state-sponsored cyber operations and mitigate their effects. Contemporary geopolitical conflicts frequently target critical infrastructure, including energy grids, transport networks and communications systems. Algerian policymakers have therefore prioritized stronger digital infrastructure to counter sophisticated, coordinated attacks. These efforts form part of the pursuit of digital sovereignty during 2025–2030, with particular emphasis on safeguarding state security against threats to sensitive databases.
