Media Arts And The Problematic Relationship To Fred Forrest's Aesthetic Theory: A Critical Study

Authors : Mouakhar Nizar .

Abstract

This study examines media arts and their dialectical relationship with the aesthetic thought of the French artist Fred Forest, which is based on the concept of "aesthetics of communication", considering the influence of modern information and communication technologies on contemporary artistic practices. The study adopts a historical, analytical, and critical approach to observe the qualitative transformations affecting the roles of both the artist and the viewer, as well as the ways in which artworks engage within temporal, spatial, and virtual frameworks. The results show that media artworks prioritize interactive and sensory pathways, embedding the artistic process within a dynamic system of symbolic communication, which gives rise to a hybrid and procedural aesthetic, considered one of the most prominent features of art in the digital age.
