Abstract Long relegated to a subsidiary role within the system of the fine arts, printmaking has been regarded more as a tool of reproduction than as a fully autonomous artistic discipline. In the Tunisian context, this marginalization appears, to some extent, to persist, as evidenced by the scarcity of theoretical and conceptual references. This article examines the question of the body in Tunisian printmaking through an analysis of the works of three contemporary printmakers: Gouider Triki, Nabil Saouabi, and Kamel Abdallah. By considering the body as an anchor of memory, the study explores how printmaking engages the notions of trace, matrix, and materiality in order to generate distinctly creative figural variations. The findings reveal that the engraved image of the body is not reduced to a fixed form, but unfolds as a processual figure situated at the intersection of poietic experience and aesthetic engagement.
