This paper explores the complex relationship between narcissism and emotional intelligence among Algerian women through a psychoanalytic lens. Drawing upon classical and contemporary psychoanalytic theories—particularly those of Freud, Kohut, and Kernberg—this work examines how socio-cultural and intrapsychic forces shape the emotional and narcissistic organization of the female self. The discussion focuses on the Algerian socio-cultural milieu, marked by patriarchal structures, postcolonial identity tensions, and the evolving roles of women. The analysis highlights how narcissism and emotional intelligence co-develop as both defenses and adaptive mechanisms that help Algerian women manage internal conflicts and social expectations
