This article examines how media coverage shapes public awareness of human rights movements and contributes to social and legal policy changes. Drawing on established communication theories including agenda-setting, framing, and the spiral of silence it synthesizes findings from scholarly research to trace the pathways through which news media and digital platforms amplify marginalized voices and pressure governments to act. The analysis highlights the dual role of legacy and social media in contemporary activism, identifies structural factors that constrain coverage, and points to measurable legislative outcomes linked to sustained media attention. Implications for communication practice and future research are discussed.
