This article examines the mechanisms for integrating artificial intelligence into futures studies, within the context of a paradigm shift from relying on foresight methodologies based on traditional qualitative and quantitative approaches to adopting hybrid systems that combine human and artificial intelligence. The article aims to provide a theoretical and applied framework that enables researchers and decision-makers to employ AI tools—specifically large language models and machine learning—in enhancing foresight analysis processes, ranging from weak signal detection to scenario evaluation (United Nations DESA, 2025). The paper adopts a critical analytical methodology that reviews contemporary literature and pioneering experiments, concluding that effective integration requires a delicate balance between the efficiency of artificial systems and the authority of human expertise, along with the development of ethical and normative frameworks that ensure transparency and accountability.
