Authors : Belhadef Rahma . Mezaga Touatia .

Abstract

This research aims to study the importance of developing the maritime transport sector through smart ports in supporting and strengthening the blue economy, given that the maritime transport is one of its most important sectors, through a case study of Singapore. The descriptive and analytical methodologies were adopted, as they are suitable for building the theoretical framework of the research variables and for presenting and analyzing the Singaporean experience. The research concluded with several important results, most notably that smart ports have come to represent a strategic development for the maritime transport sector, as this development contributes to enhancing efficiency, reducing emissions, and supporting sustainability. The Singaporean experience represented the best model to be emulated in port management using smart technologies, demonstrating how the integration of innovation and digital infrastructure can transform ports into global competitive hubs, exemplified by the Port of Tuas project. Singapore has succeeded in becoming a leading model in port development in line with the goals of the blue economy.
