This study examines the current state of financial technology services in Algeria, with a particular focus on electronic payment systems. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, it analyzes online payments, automated teller machines (ATMs), electronic payment terminals (EPT), and mobile payment services. The results show a continuous growth in electronic payment activities during the period 2016–2023, with a significant acceleration during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, adoption remains relatively limited compared to other countries, due to a weak innovation ecosystem, a limited number of active FinTech firms, and low digital payment awareness, highlighting the need to strengthen digital infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, and awareness initiatives.
