Summary in English: This study aims to read the cultural patterns of the narrative text, as it reveals the intentions and awareness of pain and extracts the patterns hidden under the cover of language, whether apparent or implicit. This is what we tried to apply in our reading of the novel “Summer with the Enemy” by Shahla Al-Ajili, so we tried to look at the research elements in Revealing some hidden cultural patterns based on their influence and direction on cultural patterns, Literary and cultural criticism are different in terms of extrapolating the structure of narrative discourse. The first works to reveal the rhetorical and artistic beauty of literary texts, while the second delves into reading texts in order to reveal what is implicit behind this rhetorical beauty, and as a result of its formation and pluralism based on the richness of the sign. Linguistic: Narrative discourse imposes communicative codes and persuasive methods to convey its speeches, In order to achieve its goals and achieve its goals, it suggests patterns and behaviors that are capable of cultural communication and exchange, thus extracting the symbols and codes of collective communication so that it can employ and represent them. Our study of the novel “Summer with the Enemy” is a kind of autobiography of a novelist. The novel tells the story of three women through which the reader learns about a hundred years of the history of the Arab region and what surrounds it through a narrative of social transformations, emotional issues, and the abundance of wars; The text is full of implicit meanings that it narrates directly, but it is directed indirectly to the reader, as it is an enjoyable novel that presents an attractive narrative, with a series of stories that talk about characters that have no real connection to the subject of the novel. “Summer with the Enemy” by the writer and academic Shahla Al-Ajili captured many questions, especially as it takes the reader to the Syrian city of Raqqa during the war and the control of ISIS over the city, where they committed many crimes, Passing through Cologne, Germany, there is the refuge of the heroine of the novel, ‘Lamis’, who traverses space and time with stories and memories. The reader finds himself faced with three stories that differ in time and are dealt with through one narrator/narrator, ‘Lamis’, who is considered a witness to two different generations, and to the biography of three. Women, three generations, a memory of war, and devastating psychological effects.
